We were founded in October 1931 as Old Guildfordians the Old Boys club of the RGS and more recently became Guildfordians Rugby Football Club ( GRFC ). We are a friendly rugby club in the heart of Guildford playing on Stoke Park providing rugby for all. New members are always welcome, playing or non - playing, young or old, male or female. If you have never played rugby before our coaches will introduce you to the game and help you understand it.

If you would like to join us as a player, coach, supporter or sponsor please get in touch. You can be sure of a warm welcome.

Guildfordians Micros, Minis, Youth & Girls

Our season runs from September until the start of May, training and matches take place on Sundays from 10am. Boys and girls from age 3 to 18 are welcome to join us, and are grouped according to their age at midnight on the 31st August each year. For example if you are 7 years old on the 31st Aug you will be in the U8s ( you will be 8 years old in the upcoming season ).

We strongly believe that rugby is a safe, enjoyable and worthwhile activity for children. We believe that every member of the Club should play in one of the teams once they have had sufficient training, creating a strong sense of team and club spirit is very important.

Being parents ourselves, we understand that children need to try different activities before committing, so we have "try before you join" policy so all newcomers can come along and take part for 3 weeks. After this, if they wish to continue we ask that you pay the appropriate membership fee or they can stop playing without charge.

Guildfordians Walking Rugby

Walking Rugby is probably the most inclusive rugby format to be played in a Guildfordians shirt. The sport is growing rapidly in popularity across the UK and Ireland as a non-contact game open to adults of all ages, genders and abilities. Our current squad includes members from their mid-20s to mid-70s.

Launched at the club in 2018 by veteran Guildfordians coach Roger Underwood, walking rugby is attracting new members to the club from Guildford and surrounding villages. It’s a great form of exercise and, most importantly, lots of fun! Despite its name, walking rugby is a great cardio workout and caters for all speeds from slow and steady to as fast as you can walk keeping one foot on the ground at all times.

Walking Rugby has a simple set of rules so it’s easy to learn whether you have played rugby before or not. As it is non-contact, teams of up to seven players are usually mixed. A tackle is made with two hands on the torso of the ball carrier who is required to pass immediately. A turnover results when the ball is dropped or goes out of play and restarts are simply a free pass. A try is scored when the ball carrier walks over the opposition try line.
